This flexible sensor is actually a variable resistor. The resistance of the sensor increases as it bends from 0 to 90°.
Similar sensors were used in the Nintendo Power Glove. They can be used as door sensors, robotic whisker sensors, or as primary components in making sentient stuffed animals.
